The Operating Room, Environmental Service Assistant performs miscellaneous tasks related to patient transportation and basic operating room functions. This position is subject to indoor temperature changes and involves work in a high-risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens. Daily assignments may include but are not limited to ensuring proper cleaning, preparation and setup of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment to be used during surgery, transporting patients between care units, properly handling transporting and disposition of specimens and cultures, obtaining blood products from Transfusion Services, assisting staff with room turnover, operating assigned cleaning machines and/or equipment, and performing duties required for cleaning between cases.
