About The Position

Speare Surgical Services is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy a variety of surgical cases and tasks. Perioperative nurses use the nursing process to develop individualized plans of care and to coordinate and deliver care to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures. Perioperative nurses have the skills and knowledge to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate the outcomes of nursing interventions. Along with multidisciplinary teams, perioperative RNs identify needs, establish goals, and develop a plan of care to achieve optimal outcomes with patients and their designated support person(s). This is for a seasonal/temporary assignment for 13 weeks. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Previous experience in the acute health care setting or similar with operating room experience
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Hampshire. Have current BLS certification (adult, child, and infant).
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, effective, and quality patient-centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations
  • Develop and implement individualized perioperative plans of care
  • Evaluate and monitor the sterile field/environment throughout surgical procedures, performing interventions and procedures as needed to ensure patient's procedure is performed safely and on the correct site, side, and level
  • Administer medications appropriately
  • Perform interventions to maintain patient's skin integrity, maintain status of genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurological systems, and maintain fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances
  • Participate actively in efforts to reduce adverse patient care events, protect patient information, and act ethically in all areas of practice.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with all members of the patient care team.
