About The Position

EyeCare Partners is the nation’s leading provider of clinically integrated eye care. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, over 650 ECP-affiliated practice locations provide care in 18 states and 80 markets, providing services that span the eye care continuum. The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Operating Room (OR) at Virginia Eye Consultants involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care of patients in accordance with established standards and policies. This role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered and requires participation in direct patient care while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) Virginia or Compact License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • One year of previous nursing experience in Operating Room, surgical, ASC, Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct patient care in an individual Operating Room.
  • Ensure proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards of practice.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations and be knowledgeable of patient rights.
  • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license.
  • Supervise other personnel in the room and assist as necessary.
  • Report unusual occurrences to charge personnel and document appropriately.
  • Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination and continuity of patient care.
  • Assess, prioritize, plan, and implement patient care effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and legible medical records.
  • Participate in continuing education and staff meetings.
  • Follow Physician orders and directions from management.
  • Assist in training new staff when needed.
  • Perform scrub duties as necessary and maintain count on sponges, needles, and instruments.
  • Position patients and prepare the operative area according to standard policies.
  • Open sterile packs and supplies according to aseptic technique.
  • Assist Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and other personnel as needed.
  • Observe patients for changes in condition and document responses to medications.
  • Accompany patients to PACU and give report to Post-Op Nurse.
  • Ensure a clean, safe environment through alertness to safety and aseptic techniques.
