About The Position

The Operating Room Circulator RN position at The Physicians' Group is a full-time role focused on providing excellent patient care in the operating room. The nurse will be responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing perioperative care plans, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and adherence to infection control standards. The position is weekdays only, with no holidays or weekends required, and may involve some later evening shifts.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current unrestricted RN license to practice in the State of CA.
  • Current American Heart BLS certification.
  • Experience working as a circulator in the operating room.
  • Minimum one year experience in the Operating Room, specifically with Total Joint and Spine procedures.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
  • Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care.
  • Implement the plan of care using various interventions to protect the patient from injury.
  • Perform count procedures to prevent unintended retained foreign objects.
  • Ensure the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.
  • Manage patient's specimens appropriately.
  • Communicate the patient's current status throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administer medications appropriately.
  • Maintain patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
  • Ensure the status of the patient's various systems and balances are maintained at or above baseline levels.
  • Protect the patient from infection.
  • Educate the patient or designated support person regarding care and expected responses to procedures.
  • Involve the patient or designated support person in decisions affecting their care.
  • Protect the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy.
  • Provide culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards.
  • Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
  • Transfer care as appropriate.
  • Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act.
  • Document nursing care accurately.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines.
  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships.
  • Maintain required competencies and attend required meetings.
