Job Summary Position responsible for preparing patients and the environment prior to surgery for the medical and nurse team. The position requires the teamwork, collaboration and good communication skills. OR Attendant, Full-time Monday through Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm One year of previous experience in the operating room required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Will be responsible for maintenance of the unit, stocking supplies and preparing the rooms for the next case. This position is located in the Orthopedic OR at Memorial City Hospital.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an operating room environment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read and write English
  • Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with physical preparation of patient and physical environment prior to surgery according to the age/needs of the patient/population served; transports and transfers patients as necessary.
  • Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
