About The Position

The Operating Room Aide (CNA) at HaysMed plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team by assisting nurses in providing quality patient care in the operating room. This position involves various tasks that ensure the operating room is prepared and maintained for surgical procedures, contributing to a safe and efficient environment for both patients and healthcare staff.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a nurse assistant training program, and knowledge of general nursing assistant functions.
• Current nursing assistant certification in the State of Kansas.
• BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Courses in medical terminology
• 6 months medical center experience
• Non-violent Crisis intervention (CPI) class
• Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the initial room wipe down in the morning (i.e. overhead lights, horizontal surfaces).
• Check and change sharps containers when full.
• Bring additional supplies and equipment to room as requested by RN and Scrub Technician.
• Transport patient(s) to and from room as requested.
• Assist with prep if needed.
• Clean and restock sub sterile area.
• Put away extra and unnecessary supplies and equipment.
• Assist with cleaning and turning over the OR room.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the surgical team.
