About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking an experienced Optometry Technician at Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center in Dumfries, Virginia. This is an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional care to active-duty military members, veterans and their dependents in a dynamic outpatient setting.

Requirements

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be a US citizen and authorized to work in the US.
• Certification of completion from a basic optometry course, equivalent para-optometric training, or a para-optometric certification; from the American Optometric Association or AOA.
• Possess a minimum of 6 months within the past 2 years as a practicing Optometry Technician.
• Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
• Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with patient care and eye examinations
• Taking patient histories and explaining the testing processes
• Educating patients on the care and maintenance of lenses
• Fitting patients for glasses or contact lenses
• Preparing exam schedules and handling insurance claims
• Working under the supervision of the optometrist
• Maintaining patients records and equipment
