About The Position

SoCal Eye Physicians and Surgeons is a reputable medical practice with two locations in the stunning coastal towns of Los Alamitos and Lakewood, California. Both locations are conveniently located just two miles away from the beach and mountains, providing a picturesque work environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional with valuable skills to join the team and make a meaningful impact. Purpose: Diagnose, manage, and treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. Examine eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment. What you'll do: With a strong commitment to patient well-being, you'll ensure comprehensive eye care for individuals. Operating out of both the Lakewood location and the Los Alamitos location, a typical workday involves caring for 14 to 18 patients. Collaborating within a cohesive team of four professionals, you'll have the advantage of a supportive environment and access to cutting-edge technology, including Optos, OCT, and Galilei. You’ll work closely with a team of talented professionals, including doctors, opticians, technicians, and administrative staff, collaborating seamlessly to create a unique experience for each patient.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctor or Optometry (O.D.) Degree - Required
  • License/Certification: Valid California Optometrist license without restrictions - Required
  • Experience: 1-3 years of Optometry experience -Required
  • Outstanding communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate professionally in English- Required
  • Intermediate Computer Skill, knowledge of Microsoft, medical IT systems, EMR required
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to start 2 days a week
  • Ability to travel between two offices – Lakewood and Los Alamitos – if needed
  • Ability to cover additional days, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Specialties: NBEO and/or COA
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus
  • Knowledge of Compulink a plus

Responsibilities

  • Examines eyes, using observation, instruments, and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception; focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases.
  • Examine post-op cataract surgery patients
  • Refract patients for LAL, Light Adjustable Lens
  • Counsel patients about various premium lenses
  • Prescribes eyeglasses; fits and adjusts contact lenses and other vision aids
  • Analyzes test results and develops a treatment plan
  • Prescribes medications to treat eye diseases within the scope of the optometrist license
  • Removes foreign bodies from the eye
  • Consults with and refers patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary
  • Prescribes therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision
  • Notifies the on-duty Ophthalmologist of any uncommon ophthalmic/systemic conditions
  • Educates and counsels patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors
  • Provides visual therapy and low vision rehabilitation
  • Follows applicable policies and procedures and takes precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Maintains strict patient protocols in accordance with practice policies/ HIPAA requirements
  • Maintains detailed and accurate patient records using EMR
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism with patients and works to establish a positive rapport
  • Performs other duties as assigned
