About The Position
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To Provide for essential eye care needs of the persons utilizing Kanakanak Hospital & the surrounding community/village health clinics.
Requirements
- Must hold an active Doctorate of Optometry degree from an accredited American college and be Nationally Certified and Licensed by the State of Alaska to practice optometry, including an unrestricted diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical endorsement.
- This provider is eligible to work with an outside US state optometry license, however, must receive State of Alaska licensure within one year of hire and maintain an unrestricted Alaska licensure continuously thereafter.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skillset necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit in a rural eyecare setting and under a limited access setting.
- The provider must demonstrate extensive knowledge of ocular pathology in relation to patients of all ages (womb to tomb), and all demographics and to provide the care needed as described in the assigned unit's procedures.
Nice To Haves
- Three years of experience as Optometrist desired
- Hospital setting experience is preferred.
- Experience in urgent eye care management is important.
