About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and community-focused Optometrist to join our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The Optometrist will provide comprehensive primary eye care services, including diagnosis and management of ocular disease, in a team-based, patient-centered medical home environment serving diverse and underserved populations.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry
  • Active and unrestricted Georgia optometry license
  • Eligible to prescribe and manage pharmaceutical agents under Georgia law
  • Successful completion of National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) examinations
  • Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain, if applicable to scope)
  • Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Experience or willingness to work in a community health/FQHC setting
  • Commitment to serving diverse and medically underserved populations
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality benchmarks in a value-based care environment
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, credential verification, and drug screening in accordance with organizational policy and HRSA/FQHC requirements.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of clinical experience
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
  • Experience treating ocular disease
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
  • Experience with quality reporting measures (UDS, HEDIS, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations
  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic pharmaceuticals
  • Educate patients on preventive eye health
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and meet productivity standards
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and care teams
