About The Position

Starling Physicians is searching for a full-time Optometrist to join our expanding Ophthalmology department. The schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Saturdays as needed. The Optometrist will examine, diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the visual system, eye diseases, and injuries. They will provide prescriptions for eyeglasses or contact lenses as needed and work as part of an ophthalmic care team of optometrists and ophthalmologists in a multi-specialty practice. The role involves providing direct care to patients in a responsible, respectful, and caring manner. The Optometrist will independently diagnose all optometric and ocular problems through external and internal physical evaluation of the eye and surrounding tissues, detect impairments or anomalies of binocular function, and treat visual disorders through examination, prescription of corrective lenses, vision training, and/or pharmacological means. They will also treat unusual visual disorders through the application of advanced and complex optometric techniques, perform comprehensive eye exams, review patient's history, select and administer specialized tests and measurements, and administer non-medical/surgical treatments. Additionally, the Optometrist will design and implement individual treatment programs, select and apply corrective/therapeutic devices, provide leadership that supports departmental policies and goals, and propose and implement strategies to assist in the advancement of Optometric practice in the delivery of care to patients.
