About The Position
The Optometric Technician will support the CHC Vision Services Team, performing patient pre-testing as well as assisting with scheduling and overall flow of services for optimal and quality patient care. Duties will include performing patient pre-testing, which encompasses verifying patient medications, medical and ocular history, checking visual acuity, finger counting visual fields, color vision, stereopsis, extraocular motilities, checking eye pressures and pupils. The technician will also perform visual field testing, OCT imaging, and fundus photography, with training provided to become comfortable with all office equipment. Additionally, the technician will document patient demographic information and pre-testing data in EPIC EHR, clean optical equipment and exam rooms between patients, and assist the optician in measuring pupillary distance, verifying eyeglass lenses by auto-lensometry, and dispensing eyeglasses to patients. Simple repairs and adjustments of eyeglasses may also be required, along with checking out patients and scheduling follow-ups as needed, providing overall administrative support as required.
