About The Position

The optometric technician plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient patient flow and assisting the optometrist by conducting essential pre-screenings and tests prior to the doctor's examination. This position is vital for ensuring that the optometrist can provide the best possible care to patients. Importantly, no prior optical experience or certification is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to new hires. In this role, the optometric technician will be responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care and maintaining a professional atmosphere in the doctor's office and pre-test room. They will need to understand ocular terminology and diseases, explain preliminary examinations to patients, and complete necessary paperwork while performing tests on patients before the doctor’s examination. The technician will also promote visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients, perform exam pre-screening, and review prescriptions or patient information carefully to identify any special needs. Collaboration with the optician, doctor, or retail management will be necessary when specific patient needs arise. Additionally, the technician will ensure that all equipment, both for the doctor and pre-test, is properly maintained to facilitate smooth operations.
