Requirements

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in real-time.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on accuracy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical scribe certification or any healthcare-related coursework or degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Document patient histories, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and medical procedures in real-time during patient visits.
  • Accurately update patient charts in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, ensuring completeness and compliance with practice standards.
  • Assist in documenting complex medical terms, procedures, and diagnoses related to ophthalmology and optometry.
  • Support optometrists by ensuring accurate and thorough charting while observing patient exams and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team to gather necessary information and ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Help with pre-examination tasks, including obtaining patient histories and performing basic pre-exam tests as needed.
  • Ensure proper HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Assist in administrative duties, including scheduling patient appointments and preparing medical records.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism while handling multiple patients and fast-paced environments.
