You have the chance to join our team! LLE is looking for its next Laser Technician. A Laser Sources Tech is responsible for: Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments Precision alignment of optical systems Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues Performing preventative maintenance Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment Performing all the functions above according to defined procedures and in a manner that ensures the safety of equipment and personnel. Requirements

  • Strong technical aptitude and reasoning skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and rapidly adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and navigate stairs and ladders
  • High degree of manual dexterity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills—must be willing and able to operate in a collaborative and inclusive team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn additional software
  • Ability to work in presence of active laser amplifier head which create repetitive noise and flashlamp light at 5 Hz
  • Shift flexibility is required (Morning and Evening shifts)
  • Have an associate degree in optics or technology/engineering field and 1 year experience in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Have availability to work first shift (6:00AM to 2:30PM) or second shift (1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
  • Have experience with optical, mechanical, electrical systems
  • Have experience with handling precision optical components or aligning laser systems
  • Are proficient with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Have technical writing experience
  • Are self-motivated and attentive to detail

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the assembly, alignment, and testing of optical and mechanical components used in devices such as lasers, imaging systems, and other optical instruments.
  • Ensures the proper functioning and calibration of optical systems.
  • May collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues, document procedures, and contribute to the overall manufacturing and quality control processes.
  • Supporting the operation of equipment and instrumentation for laser physics experiments
  • Precision alignment of optical systems
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Supporting engineers in design and installation of new equipment
  • Performing all the functions above according to defined procedures and in a manner that ensures the safety of equipment and personnel.
