About The Position

The Optical Technician at IDEX Corporation is responsible for manufacturing optical components while collaborating closely with engineering teams. This entry-level position emphasizes the development of a broad skill set in optics metrology, assembly, and process improvement, requiring self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with optical components is a plus.
  • Familiarity with clean room and ESD safe environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with microscope inspection techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring exacting mental and visual concentration.
  • Proficient with basic computer use (Word, Excel) and communication tools (e-mail).
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn new skills.
  • Team player with solid communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with optical components.
  • Familiarity with clean room and ESD safe environments constraints.
  • Familiarity with microscope inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high precision optics metrology including interferometry and optical part characterization.
  • Clean, handle, and assemble optical and opto-electronic components.
  • Conduct optical contacting and visual inspection of optical components.
  • Manage inventory of consumables for clean room and manufacturing supplies.
  • Enforce procedures and maintain cleanliness in fabrication and clean room areas.
  • Read, follow, and understand manufacturing procedures.
  • Document and develop manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in establishing and improving manufacturing procedures.
  • Transact production work orders through ERP systems.
  • Follow all safety training and guidelines.
  • Perform machining of glass/silicon/ceramic materials if applicable.
  • Operate and maintain CNC fabrication equipment if applicable.
  • Clean and inspect parts prior to and following deposition of coatings if applicable.
  • Operate vacuum coating equipment to produce optical thin films if applicable.
