About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking talented Manufacturing or Industrial Engineers to support production processes in the Missiles and Fire Control Business Area. This role focuses on production support for diamond turning and optical fabrication processes, providing technical guidance to operators, applying lean manufacturing techniques, and leading non-recurring efforts to establish production plans and processes. The position is for the 2nd shift and emphasizes continuous improvement and collaboration within a production environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Optical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.
  • Experience in optics manufacturing including CNC polishing, double-sided polishing, sub-aperture polishing, MRF, optical centering, and diamond turning.
  • Machining experience: CNC milling and turning, conventional machining, and CAM.
  • Experience working in a production environment, including creation and upkeep of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Familiarity with advanced optical metrology techniques such as stitching interferometry and white light interferometry.
  • Demonstrated small team leadership skills and experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira.
  • Knowledge of military and ISO optical specifications.
  • Experience with CAD software and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Responsibilities

  • Engineer responsible for production support of single point diamond turning and optical fabrication processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to optical operators to facilitate performance.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and increase yields.
  • Investigate root cause of failures/defects and implement corrective action to support continuous improvement.
  • Lead the non-recurring effort (NRE) to establish production manufacturing/test plans and define processes.
  • Manage tooling, manufacturing aids, and capital requirements, transitioning NRE into production environment.
  • Develop and sustain manufacturing processes per customers' alignment and resolution requirements.
