About The Position

Unlike roles with similar names at other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren't manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Google's growing suite of products and services. In this role, you will be in one or all of the following product families: Phones, Laptops, Virtual Reality, Homes, and Devices. You will manage one of the key consumer satisfaction metrics functional performance of Google's consumer electronic products, specifically focusing on optics/display/camera/computer vision. You will design and develop manufacturing test solutions to balance engineering and operational priorities. You will use your expertise in testing and testability to influence product design, promote best engineering practices, and drive quality and user experience improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience in software testing and automation.
  • Strong programming skills to write testing scripts.
  • Knowledge of optics, display, camera, or computer vision technologies.
  • Ability to navigate and understand large codebases.
  • Experience in designing test solutions for consumer electronics.

  • Experience with consumer hardware products.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and testability principles.
  • Background in quality assurance or user experience testing.
