About The Position

The Optician position involves assisting customers with selecting and fitting eyewear based on their prescriptions and preferences. Requirements

• 2 years of experience in optical sales is required.
• Strong understanding of medical records management, including documentation and confidentiality requirements under HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of medical terminology related to eye anatomy and visual systems.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to use an edger is not required but will give the best candidate an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting and fitting frames based on their prescription and personal preferences.
• Take accurate measurements of patients' eyes and facial features to ensure proper fit and alignment of eyewear.
• Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and treatments to help them make informed decisions about their eyewear.
• Adjust and repair eyeglasses as needed, including replacing nose pads, temple tips, screws, and mounting lenses into a frame.
• Perform basic maintenance on optical equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Maintain accurate records of patient orders, prescriptions, and insurance information.
• Collaborate with optometrists to provide comprehensive eye care services.
• Maintain a frame inventory and work with frame vendors on frame selection.
• Process insurance claims for frames, lenses, exams, and contact lenses.
• Familiarity with optometry practices and procedures for diagnosing and treating eye conditions.
