Summary Provides optical care by measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames according to written optical prescription or specification. Assists customers in selecting frames. Prepares work orders for optical laboratory and verifies exactness of finished glasses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years optical dispensing experience with proficient skills for dispensing, fitting repair of glasses.
  • ABO - American Board of Opticianry Certification - State of Pennsylvania within 1 Year

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • National Contact Lens Examiners - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts frame and lens position to fit the client and for optimal vision.
  • Complies with the organization's established policies.
  • Measures client's bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, papillary distance, and optical centers of eye measuring devices.
  • Evaluates prescription in conjunction with client's vocational and avocational visual requirements.
  • Prepares work order and instructions for grinding lenses and fabricating glasses.
  • Recommends specific lenses, lens coating, and frames to suit client needs.
  • Updates patient chart with pertinent patient information.
