About The Position

The goal of this position is to provide high quality vision products to clients. An Optician may fit, inspect, and/or dispense spectacles and other optical aids to children and adults. Opticians advise patients on the various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including options based on style, weight, and color.

Requirements

  • 2+ years work experience in retail, customer service, or healthcare preferred.
  • 2+ years work experience in customer service or healthcare desired.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to move or transport items weighing up to 40 pounds around the office.
  • Must be able to move around inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, supplies, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, calculator, and/or phone.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with coworkers, Supervisors, and patients via digital, verbal, and written mediums.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or license in Opticianry desired.

Responsibilities

  • Review clinician prescriptions and order products based on medical chart records.
  • Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences.
  • Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimal customer satisfaction and product variety.
  • Ensure that the retail area remains clean, well-stocked, and easily accessible to visitors.
  • Communicate with clinicians regarding questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
  • Proficiently operate frame/lens tracer and lens edging machine.
  • Inspect all received lab orders with clear documentation.
  • Operate manual lensometer and other tools to achieve proper fittings for patients.
  • Dispense completed orders to patients and complete personalized eyewear adjustments.
  • Keep a daily log of the progress of outstanding orders.
  • Follow through with orders until the customer's satisfactory resolution.
  • Troubleshoot complex situations and/or requests from customers regarding their eyewear.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by Management or the Practice Owners.
