About The Position

The Optician at Gentle Monster is responsible for assisting customers in selecting eyewear that meets their vision needs and personal style. This role involves fitting and adjusting eyewear, ensuring compliance with optical standards, and maintaining exceptional customer service. The Optician will also support store management and staff in driving store initiatives while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of retail experience
• 2 years of optical experience
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Ability to adapt and multi-task in a fast-changing, retail environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• State optician license or an ABO-certified optician
• This position is based in a retail store environment. It requires standing and walking up to 8 hours per shift.
• Requires bending and kneeling to process and place merchandise as well as reach to obtain or stock merchandise from the stockroom.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting the ideal frames and lenses based on their vision needs, personal style, and preferences, including both prescription and non-prescription eyewear
• Fit and adjust eyewear to ensure maximum comfort for each customer
• Collaborate effectively with the team to guarantee exceptional customer service
• Ensure that all eyewear complies with optical standards and meets customer needs
• Complete daily operational tasks including maintenance of sales floor
• Support the Store Management and staff, driving store initiatives while demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of the business
• Ensure store compliance with company policy and procedures, taking a consistent approach with all associates
• Ensure brand image is presented consistent with visual merchandising and service expectations
• Minimize loss by adhering to all loss prevention procedures, stockroom processing, and replenishment procedures, and inventory management processes
