About The Position

Are you interested in joining a team of dedicated opticians focused on providing exceptional care to our patients? The right candidate should be skilled in working politely and professionally with people in person and on the phone, as well as other staff members. Daily objectives will include presenting solutions for patients' eye care needs, providing outstanding patient care, and assisting providers and fellow staff members as needed. The Optician will fit and dispense eyewear using the latest in frame & lens materials & technologies, and assist patients with their frame selections to acquire proper fit, fashion & function. Additionally, the Optician may perform other tasks to ensure the office runs smoothly.

Requirements

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some Saturdays and past 5 pm
• Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between office locations if needed

Responsibilities

• Interpret prescriptions written by providers
• Design and adapt lenses and frames in accordance with prescriptions and patients vocation and avocational visual requirements
• Helping patients select eyeglass and lens treatments including tints and coatings
• Guiding patients when selecting frames for proper fit and styling
• Repairing broken frames, adjusting to ensure proper fit and advising patients on any necessary repairs or adjustments
• Educating clients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care
• Taking eye and facial measurements to correctly interpret prescriptions
• Maintaining optical displays
• Maintain inventory level of glasses and frames in terms of style/price ranges; order glasses, frames, supplies, pricing and sales promotions
• Working with sales professionals from vision care suppliers and ensuring that all orders arrive and are to the specifications of the patient
• Dispensing eyeglasses to patient while ensuring proper fit and complete patient satisfaction
• Fit glasses by measuring bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, and optical center
• Prepare orders for grinding lenses and fabricating spectacles for labs or in house
• Understanding front desk and scheduling appointments, as well as billing and insurance specifications
• Other duties as assigned
