The basic function of the Optical Associate, Optician is to attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional customer service, fostering customer retention, and promoting outstanding associate/doctor satisfaction. This role drives profitable store sales by fostering a customer care culture through practicing and using effective retail sales skills utilizing the Total Customer Experience Model. The Optical Associate develops professional business relationships with other Associates, Hosts, and Doctors, and is responsible for filling ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fitting and adapting lenses and frames. This includes utilizing optical prescriptions, evaluating prescriptions in conjunction with customers' visual requirements, recommending specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit customer needs, and assisting customers in the selection of frames while coordinating frames with optical measurements and prescriptions. The associate conducts measurements of bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers using appropriate tools. Ensuring high quality through accurate measurements, correct pricing, and realistic delivery time quotes is essential. The role also maximizes Managed Vision Care relationships and sales opportunities, assists with the timely implementation of approved marketing programs, and ensures positive and productive host relationships through participation, support, and satisfaction measured by Patient Satisfaction Surveys. Other duties may be assigned by the Optical Manager and other Associates.
