About The Position

The primary responsibility of this Optician I position is to ensure that all patients receive the best quality of care at all times. This involves reviewing physician's prescriptions, educating patients on corrective lens options, assisting with aesthetic frame choices, achieving sales goals, managing inventory of frames and contact lenses, communicating with physicians regarding prescriptions, performing adjustments and repairs of eyewear, and placing optical orders with an understanding of insurance benefits. The role emphasizes excellent customer service and personal presentation.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role
• 0-3 years of experience
• Good organizational and multitasking abilities
• Coachable-open to feedback and continual improvement
• Flexible and adaptable
• Professional phone and office etiquette required

Nice To Haves

• Optical experience is preferred but not necessary

Responsibilities

• Review Physician’s prescriptions and orders based on medical charts
• Educate patients on their corrective lens options and help them make a choice that fits their medical needs as well as lifestyle preferences
• Provide honest but compassionate feedback about aesthetic choices in frames
• Achieve sales goals and quotas as determined by office staff while attending to patients’ specific needs and desires
• Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety
• Communicate with physician with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues
• Perform adjustments and repairs of eyewear
• Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits
