The Optometry team at Lakewood Health System provides comprehensive vision care services to patients while supporting efficient clinic operations. The team works collaboratively to prepare patients for provider examinations, perform diagnostic testing, and ensure patients receive a welcoming and professional care experience. Support efficient and high-quality patient care by performing accurate preliminary eye testing, collecting patient information, and preparing patients for examination to ensure smooth clinic flow and excellent patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of ophthalmic or optometric technician training preferred.
  • Previous experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or clinical healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Optical Technician performs preliminary eye testing and gathers patient information prior to the optometrist’s examination.
  • This role operates diagnostic equipment, documents findings within the electronic health record, and prepares patients for provider evaluation.
  • Responsibilities include performing diagnostic screenings, obtaining patient medical and ocular histories, maintaining exam room readiness, assisting with clinic workflow, and supporting accurate documentation to ensure efficient patient care and clinical decision-making.
  • The Optical Technician works collaboratively with optometrists, opticians, and clinic staff to provide a positive and efficient patient experience.
