About The Position

The Optical Retail Sales Associate, also known as a Retail Optician, plays a crucial role in assisting patients with their eyewear needs. This part-time position is centered around providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that patients find the eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings that best suit their individual requirements. The Retail Associate will work closely with lab technicians to ensure that accurate measurements and prescription information are provided for the grinding, coating, and fitting of lenses to the frames. Once the glasses are ready, the Retail Associate is responsible for dispensing them to the patients, ensuring a smooth and satisfactory experience. In addition to direct customer interaction, the Retail Associate will maintain a comprehensive understanding of current sales and promotions, as well as company policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges. This role requires proficiency in transaction processing, including computing and processing payment transactions and refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system. The Retail Associate will also handle insurance claims efficiently, ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed accurately. The position demands a keen eye for detail, as the Retail Associate will be responsible for creating and maintaining patient files in compliance with company and HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality. Assessing and interpreting patients' needs based on their prescriptions, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation is a key aspect of the role, allowing the Retail Associate to suggest the most appropriate products. Taking necessary measurements, preparing work orders for the lab, and inspecting the final product for accuracy are also essential tasks. Additionally, the Retail Associate will manage merchandise by pricing, stocking, and straightening items in the store.
