About The Position

The Optical Lab Manager at Eyeglass World is responsible for overseeing the operations of the lab, ensuring quality and same-day service standards are met. This role involves supervising Lab Technicians, optimizing lab efficiency, and maintaining compliance with company policies. The manager plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and ensuring the lab operates smoothly and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize and oversee the lab to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and create action plans for improvement.
  • Provide world-class service by treating customers with respect and understanding their needs.
  • Execute same-day service using the 'Ready When Promised' production board.
  • Perform machine maintenance to ensure lab equipment is clean and in good working order.
  • Address equipment malfunctions immediately and inform the General Manager and retail staff of any production delays.
  • Ensure all safety rules and standards are followed, including ensuring Lab Technicians wear protective eyewear.
  • Assist in controlling inventory shrinkage through monitoring and recording of breakage and accurate inventories.
  • Ensure the store maintains a proper level of lenses and lab supplies for prompt customer service.
  • Supervise and motivate Lab Technicians, ensuring timely completion of day-to-day functions.
  • Assist the General Manager with recruiting, selecting, and retaining high-caliber lab staff.
  • Delegate work functions to team members to maximize organizational goals and individual development.
  • Ensure lab associate scheduling complies with payroll guidelines while considering skill level.
  • Ensure all lab associates are properly trained on lab equipment and continue to develop their knowledge of laboratory techniques.
  • Partner with the Training Department and Employee Relations to ensure timely training and development for each associate.
  • Complete annual performance reviews and continuous coaching conversations with all associates.
