Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. The Co-Op will run either Spring 2026 or Fall 2026.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an Engineering program.
  • Pursuing a BS/MS in Electrical/Mechanical/Materials/Chemical or related engineering major.
  • Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology.
  • Data/statistical analysis skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships, work in teams and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts.

  • Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar principles.

Responsibilities

  • Support technology development by using engineering principles to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Analyze data to improve or develop product, process, or equipment improvements.
  • Give recommendations for improvements, present findings, and document work.
  • Actively engage with cross-functional project teams to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Own key project objectives critical to Corning's success.
  • Interface with various engineering and operations groups to understand potential impact of product, equipment, and process changes.
  • Review performance data on new processes/findings and effectively draw conclusions.
  • Communicate effectively to personnel at various levels up to and including the staff level.

Benefits

  • The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.
  • Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
