Raytheon's Optics Consolidated Manufacturing Center (OCMC) in Richardson, TX, drives Raytheon Technologies' competitiveness in optical components, assemblies, and systems now and in the future. We are responsible for performing all equipment innovation, selection, troubleshooting and maintenance to lead the organization in delivering a quality product on time, at or below cost, in a safe environment. Our team seeks an experienced Optical Fabrication Assembler to work onsite on the first shift in Richardson. No relocation assistance available. We are on a 9/80 work schedule (off every other Friday).

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret documents, prints, safety rules, work instructions and operating procedures.
  • Fabricate precision windows and lenses including the operation of continuous pitch polishers, multi-spindle polishers; Blanchard Mill; double sided grinders and polishers; CNC generating and polishing machines.
  • Clean, inspect, and package optical windows and lenses using established procedures.
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, dial indicators, test plates, and interferometers.
  • Stand 80-90% of the time and walk short distances 10-20%, bend at the waist 20%, lift and/or carry less than 25lbs.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience using documents, prints, safety rules, work instructions and/or operating procedures.
  • Setup/operate production process equipment/hardware and/or test equipment.
  • Work or practical use of microscope.
  • Work history using a computer and Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Hand tools for dimensioning (e.g. Micrometers, height gauges, depth mics, calipers, etc.).
  • Must have experience in at least one of the following: continuous pitch polisher (CP), multi-spindle polishers, Blanchard Mill, double sided grinders and/or polishers.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-10 years of experience operating multi spindle polishers, continuous pitch polishers.
  • Experience inspecting optical components using interferometers and profilometers (Metrology).
  • Experience producing plano windows, spherical lenses.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, prints, safety rules, work instructions and operating procedures.
  • Good manual dexterity skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Professional, positive, effective teamwork skills are critical to the success of the fabrication department and individual.
