The Vision Center Development Coach at Walmart is a pivotal role responsible for enhancing the operational efficiency and patient care experience within Vision Centers. This position involves training and developing associates, collaborating with market and store leadership, and implementing business initiatives to drive growth and improve service delivery. The coach serves as a subject matter expert in opticianry and Vision Center operations, ensuring that associates are well-equipped to meet business objectives and provide excellent patient care.

  • Partner with Market Directors to communicate business objectives and Vision Center strategies.
  • Provide training, coaching, and development to Market Directors focusing on optical expertise and patient care.
  • Oversee implementation of business initiatives through goal-setting and accountability measures.
  • Establish relationships with Vision Center Associate Optometrists and Independent Optometrists.
  • Conduct routine reviews of vision center financials and KPIs to ensure performance goals are met.
  • Visit 50+ stores within the assigned territory to connect with associates and understand operational challenges.
  • Lead training and development sessions both in-person and virtually.
  • Support vision center teams during key events and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification or optician license/registration as required by state regulations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in optical business management, including financial responsibility.
  • 2 years of experience supervising associates with performance management responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships and providing feedback.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including the ability to analyze and explain financial data.
  • Experience in retail or private practice optical settings.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA standards and patient confidentiality regulations.
