About The Position

Optical and Mechanical Engineer Key Role: Apply engineering physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to support the design, analysis, manufacturing, or maintenance of mechanical and optical systems. Work with a broad range of technologies in fields such as optics, fiber optics, photonics, laser technology, and opto-mechanics. Perform optical-mechanical design, development, prototype building, and product lifecycle development. Perform trade studies based on bounded or unbounded problems considering customer requirements, budget , period of performance, and size, weight, and power constraints. Oversee product development, including review and approval of opto-mechanical drawing packages. Present design outputs to internal or external stakeholders, write or document optical design reports, and improve form-factor, performance, ruggedization, and operability of hardware. Collaborate and interface with scientists, nonscientists, and business leadership to innovate new concepts. Design and develop new products or solutions for customized manufacturing, and assist in transitioning designs to pre-production or low-rate phases of the product development lifecycle. Interface with external vendors or supply chain partners to find optimal engineering solutions. Apply advanced consult ing skills and extensive technical expertise, including full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction, and mentor and supervise team members.
