About The Position

The OSP Tech I plays a critical role in the construction and maintenance of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure, primarily focusing on fiber optic networks. This position is responsible for performing fiber splicing and related tasks to ensure high-quality, reliable connectivity for clients and end-users. This role requires working in various outdoor environments, often involving physical labor and adherence to safety protocols. The successful candidate will contribute to the installation, testing, and repair of fiber optic cables, supporting the expansion and upkeep of the network. Ultimately, this position ensures that fiber optic systems are installed and maintained to meet industry standards and project specifications, enabling seamless communication services.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including climbing poles and working in various weather conditions.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in fiber optic splicing or related telecommunications training.
  • Experience working in outside plant construction or telecommunications industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precise fiber optic splicing and termination to connect and repair fiber optic cables.

  • Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and company policies while working on job sites.
