About The Position
The Operations Supervisor position at Federal Express Corporation is a frontline supervisory role that plays a crucial part in supporting the company's Safety Above All Culture. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations and overseeing an assigned staff, ensuring that package sortation is conducted safely and efficiently. The Operations Supervisor will lead a team of Package Handlers and may also manage administrative employees, ensuring that all processes comply with FedEx policies, procedures, and governmental regulations. In this role, the Operations Supervisor will serve as a champion for FedEx's safety initiatives, which are paramount to the company's operational philosophy. The supervisor's management responsibilities encompass a wide range of functions, including hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation, and addressing employee concerns. The supervisor will plan, organize, staff, direct, and control specific day-to-day operations, ensuring that employees are assigned effectively to maintain operational efficiency while minimizing costs and maximizing quality. The Operations Supervisor will analyze operational performance through direct observation and report interpretation, collaborating with others to identify opportunities for improvement. This role requires leading daily meetings to communicate operational updates and goals, which involves public speaking to both small and large audiences. Additionally, the supervisor will participate in developing and administering employee relations and safety strategies, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies. Training new employees on job duties and performance expectations is a critical aspect of this role, as is mentoring less-experienced supervisors. The Operations Supervisor must be adaptable to changing business needs, demonstrating flexibility and urgency while engaging employees positively and professionally. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and multifaceted position.
