About The Position

The Standardized Patient (SP) role at the Dr. Angelo and Alberta Anaclerio Learning and Assessment Center (ALAC) involves portraying patients for educational purposes, aiding in the training of future healthcare professionals. This part-time, temporary position allows individuals to engage in immersive role-play, simulating various medical conditions and behaviors to help students develop their clinical and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Completion of ninth (9th) grade.
  • Commitment to punctuality and reliability.
  • Willingness to collaborate with the ALAC team and students.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior acting and/or teaching experience.
  • Ability to recall details for accurate portrayal of patient histories and symptoms.
  • Comfortable with undergoing a non-invasive and limited physical examination.
  • Flexible availability.

Responsibilities

  • Portray a range of patients with diverse behaviors, emotions, and medical symptoms during simulated medical encounters.
  • Evaluate students' performance based on faculty-provided standards after being interviewed and examined by them.
  • Collaborate with the ALAC team, fellow SPs, and students to enhance the educational experience.
  • Participate in training sessions to learn about patients and medical conditions from SP Educators.
