About The Position

Requirements

• At least one year of experience providing professional or collegiate-level presentations to groups.
• At least one year of experience creating and disseminating reports.
• Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder prevention resources.
• Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder reduction strategies.
• Knowledge of behavioral health and associated conditions such as mental health and substance abuse (specifically pertaining to opioids), homelessness, and suicide.
• Ability to develop, plan, and implement programs.
• Ability to work with adults, including community organizations, community members, and decision makers.
• Knowledge of coalition development.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments and work independently.
• Ability to build and maintain partnerships.
• Ability to present accurate, science-based information to a variety of audiences.
• Skilled in written and oral communications.
• Knowledge of evaluation methods and practices.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in public health, health education, behavioral health, OR 4 years of experience in the behavioral health field.
• At least one year of experience with mental health or substance abuse treatment(s) and coping resources.
• At least one year of experience facilitating group education or trainings.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Behavioral Health, Mental Health, and Substance Use Disorder.
• Review health education practices to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Coordinate health promotion and public health education programs and activities with other agencies, civic, school, and professional groups.
• Outreach to the medical community promoting Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder prevention programs.
• Conduct health promotion and public health education classes, workshops, and seminars for agency personnel, civic groups, and the general public.
• Advocate for health promotion and public health education through participation in workshops or on planning boards, health care projects, advisory councils, and professional and civic organizations.
• Promote the Health Department programs and refer community members to other community resources offered locally.
• Attend community and other relevant meetings for outreach to stakeholders and the community during regular work hours as well as after hours and on weekends.
• Support projects on the Behavioral Health Action Plan.
• Contribute to program evaluation efforts.
• Coordinate trainings for staff and partners as needed.
• Conduct trainings for community partners and internal stakeholders.
• Report training numbers and activities to supervisor and leadership.
• Analyze needs assessments to plan health promotion and public health education programs and activities.
• Evaluate health promotion and public health education programs and activities.
• Participate in training programs, educational conferences, and keep informed and up-to-date on substance abuse and opioid-related issues.
• Maintain active communication with other agencies and attend meetings as needed.
