About The Position

An opportunity is anticipated for a self-motivated, detail-oriented & hard-working individual, to fill a cabin custodian (housekeeping) position at Lake Louisa State Park located in Clermont, Florida. This Park offers hiking, picnicking, a swimming area, playground, cabins and campsite rentals plus paddle craft rentals and horseback tours via the park’s concessionaire. Incumbent would be responsible for cleaning cabins after guests leave.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing techniques
  • Knowledge of Florida Park Service.
  • Skill in operating trucks and golf carts.
  • Skill in cleaning techniques.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
  • Communicate verbally and in writing
  • Perform physical labor including carrying bins weighing up to 40 pounds up 2 flights of stairs.
  • Utilizing power/electrical/gas tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform routine inspections
  • Identify and investigate problems and maintain facilities, restrooms, grounds, and equipment
  • Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner
  • Ability to work outdoors with exposure to elements and wildlife
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Deal with people and maintain good public relations
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Prepare and keep accurate reports
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of background/fingerprint check

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanitizes cabins after visitor use.
  • Washes, folds and prepares laundry.
  • Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions.
  • Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
  • Occasional repair of screens, replacement of lightbulbs, and basic household maintenance.
  • Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities associated with cabins.
  • Operates radio equipment, personal computers and maintains written logs.
  • Ensures Park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.
  • Performs related work as required.
