About The Position

OPS Park Attendant State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection MULTIPLE SEASONAL POSITIONS OPEN This position is located in Fort White, FL Position Overview and Responsibilities: Required to perform various duties including the following: visitor services/visitor education, park maintenance, park protection, and ensuring compliance. The possibility of additional hours as the season progresses, however, all will start at 24 hours a week on a rotating schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays. VISITOR SERVICES/VISITOR EDUCATION - Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations. MAINTENANCE - Maintains cleanliness of grounds, parking areas, facilities and restrooms. PROTECTION - Ensures Park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor. Performs related work as required.

Requirements

  • KNOWLEDGE OF: Good public relations Basic arithmetic
  • SKILLED IN: Providing good customer service Be able to fill in short reports and timesheets Providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality contact experiences
  • ABILITY TO: Follow verbal and written instructions Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Perform physical labor Operate radio equipment Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful and courteous manner Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations Prepare reports Work independently with minimum supervision Work outdoors in inclement weather Lift 40lbs Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Operate computers, using Microsoft Office Suite
