About The Position

The Office of the Clerk is accepting applications for OPS Page & Messenger Program Assistants to help with the House Page & Messenger Program. This is full-time temporary employment during the legislative session (December 1, 2025 through March 13, 2026). The Page & Messenger Program is a long-standing tradition of the Florida House of Representatives. Students enrolled in grades 6-12 travel from all over Florida to serve the House for one week at a time during the legislative session.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role with teenage children.
  • Basic computer and office skills (computer, copy machine, fax, etc.).
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • A major in education studies.
  • Law enforcement background.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and accountability of each student involved in the program.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator by checking students in each morning.
  • Promptly respond to incoming message requests and provide instructions for delivery to Messengers.
  • Schedule visits with representatives and other elected officials.
  • Facilitate program activities.
  • Check students out any time they leave the building.
