About The Position

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is an agency dedicated to serving those who served U.S. We are seeking motivated, dynamic individuals! Our skilled nursing facility boasts a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture. Incumbent serves as Therapy Aide/Motor Vehicle Operator assigned to the Activities Department in State Veterans' Nursing Home.This position drives or operates various motor vehicles such as a bus, 15-passenger van, truck or other motor vehicles. (Excluding semi tractor and trailer operator.) This position transports residents to doctor appointments and activities or outings. This position may move controls to drive gasoline or electric-powered trucks, cars, or vehicles and transports materials or people between destinations or work areas. This position performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank. This position manually loads or unloads materials onto or off vehicle. This position inspects vehicle, and checks gas, oil, and water before departure and performs routine maintenance. This position reports delays or accidents. This position serves as Activities/Motor Vehicle Operator assigned to the Activities Department in a State Veterans' Nursing Home and reports to the Activities Supervisor. Requirements

  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Willingness and ability to communicate effectively in English; speaking, understand, reading and writing.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have basic or better computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to safely transport residents in facility vehicles.
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have knowledge and able to perform routine maintenance of vehicles.
  • Must successfully complete a background screening to include, but not limited to, a drug test and finger printing.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings or holidays as required.
