About The Position

OPS technician positions are available in Dr. Zhipeng Li's laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to support ongoing research projects studying cancer metabolism and ferroptosis. This is a new lab in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida, and there will be tremendous opportunities to learn and contribute to exciting research. We are a multi-disciplinary lab that utilizes various techniques (biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, microscopy, and imaging) in mammalian cell culture model systems. We strive to cultivate a collaborative lab environment that enables innovative and cutting-edge research. The position will involve performing routine experiments, contributing essential support functions, and maintaining the day-to-day operation of the lab. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking for research experience prior to applying to graduate school. Training opportunities for cutting-edge technologies in the lab include CRISPR (knockout, knock-in, a/i), high-throughput functional genomic and small molecule screens, and confocal microscopy. Requirements

have a recent or expected Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (or related field).
be self-motivated, energetic, able to solve problems, and able to work in a multi-faceted laboratory environment.
have excellent organizational, communication, time management, and record-keeping skills.
have experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology with undergraduate lab experience.
have excellent interpersonal and social skills and enjoy working and interacting with people.
