About The Position

The OPS Juvenile Justice Detention Officer I position is a temporary role focused on ensuring public safety by providing a secure environment for troubled youth. Officers are responsible for interacting with juvenile offenders, promoting accountability, and delivering services that help shape youth into productive citizens. This role requires strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, as well as a commitment to treating each youth with dignity and respect.

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving perjury or false statements.
• Ability to determine appropriate use of force when necessary.
• Skills in communication, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of juvenile justice policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure public safety by maintaining a secure environment for youth.
