About The Position

The incumbent in this position is anticipated to work 32-40 hours per week for 6-7 months out of the school year. Your Specific Responsibilities: Perform Mandated Screenings for Vision, Height/Weight and assist nurses during Scoliosis Screenings for Public/Charter School Students in Sarasota County: General Screening Assemble supplies and screening equipment for transport to schools. Prepare a screening schedule at each school if school staff has not done so. If school staff has prepared a schedule, review and revise as necessary. Record each student's individual screening results on the computer Vision Screening Conduct vision screenings on students in compliance with Florida Statutes. Screenings will include some or all of the following depending upon grade level: SPOT Vision Color Measure Height and Weight of Public/Charter School Students in the County: Measure the height (in inches) of all students in compliance with Florida Statutes and record individual results on the computer. Weigh each student in the targeted grades and record individual results on the computer. Scoliosis Screenings Assist nurses with mandated scoliosis screenings as requested. Ensure that students are rotated to scoliosis screening site. Instruct nurses to record screening results on the computer. Participate in Clerical Meetings Participate in pre-screening meeting in August Attend all scheduled refresher trainings. Assemble all screening equipment to ensure it is in working order. Train newly hired screeners as needed. Participate in post-screening meeting second semester Share problems. Suggest solutions to problems. Suggest ways to improve the process. Assists with screening letters and reports for mandated screenings. Run letters and reports and help with mailings. Run second vision letters and reports. Help prepare the next year’s screening schedule. Performs other related duties as assigned per supervisor’s instructions. Provides services prior to and following disasters as needed. Attends team meetings, Department of Health (DOH)-Sarasota staff meetings and participates in staff development activities when appropriate. Maintains client confidentiality in a manner consistent with chapter 384.29, and DOH policy. Follows Department of Health rules and regulations and departmental policies and procedures. Performs related duties as necessary with adjustable scheduling

  • Ability to lift and carry 20-pound equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
