About The Position

Performs semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices. Provides daily maintenance support to building users through responses to calls for service, scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, and similar services. Performs tasks not limited to minor plumbing, changing filters, and light bulbs. Light carpentry tasks to include replacing ceiling tiles, patching and painting, flooring materials such as VCT, plank, and carpet tiles, stair treads, and minor decorative maintenance. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled or special work. Paint walls and/or equipment and make minor painting repairs. Inspect all mechanical. Electrical equipment in machine rooms, Operates and/or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions. Enter maintenance data via the work order system for work requests (WR) and time. Clean and maintain shop, work areas, and personal equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and promote safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents. Follow University safety plans/procedures/protocols, and participate in appropriate safety training. Assists with room refurbishing to include patching walls, doorways, and casework. Have basic computer skills-Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, and Emails. Ability to follow instructions and take direction. Work hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. A criminal background and post-offer health assessment will be conducted. Drives a state vehicle that requires a valid driver's license. Expected Salary: Expected starting salary $15-$16, hourly based on experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor and positive attitude
  • Basic knowledge or and ability to use computers and tablets
  • Ability to multi-task while staying on schedule
  • The person in this position must be physically able to lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • The position requires a valid driver's license
