Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Possession of a valid driver license.
• Ability to recognize citrus varieties and other known hosts of Exotic Fruit Flies.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, and humid environments.
• Ability to walk on uneven ground and in inclement weather.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and bend repetitively.
• Skilled in completing and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to read and draw basic maps, and locate properties using street and geographic maps.

Responsibilities

• Place and service fruit fly detection devices according to the Florida Fruit Fly Detection Manual.
• Conduct plant pest detection surveys in agricultural and residential areas.
• Perform all activities associated with the fruit fly detection program in a timely and responsible manner.
• Maintain a passing grade on all fruit fly-related training material.
• Submit timely and accurate reports of all work performed, including daily trapping records and vehicle reports.
• Follow established safety guidelines and additional precautions set by management.
• Interact courteously with the public and team members.
• Perform related work as directed by management.
