This job is responsible for managing Opportunity and Inclusion (O&I) for the bank at a geographic or functional level. Key responsibilities include setting and driving the O&I strategy, consulting with senior management and influencing key partners across the O&I space to take action on complex topics with company-wide impact and developing/implementing O&I initiatives, programs and practices. Job expectations include translating enterprise O&I objectives and integrating them across teams and to establish and maintain key partnerships within HR and across the enterprise/LOB/ regions. The Opportunity & Inclusion (O&I) Client Executive serves as a senior strategic partner to front‑office business leaders across Merrill, The Private Bank, Enterprise Credit, GCIB, Global Markets, Global Risk, Sustainability, and Global Research. This role requires a seasoned operator who can seamlessly influence senior executives, drive complex bodies of work, and maintain exceptional composure and organization while managing and organizing across multiple priorities and projects. Job expectations include developing relationships with a wide variety of business partners, consulting with senior management in evaluating current methods and approaches and developing solutions against the O&I priorities for the company. Additional responsibilities and requirements are a strong operational discipline, someone who approaches work with an analytical rigor and drives an operationally excellent environment. This leader may be called upon to act on behalf of the head of O&I for these lines of business or engage directly with senior leaders or to orchestrate work across the broader team to ensure flawless execution and accountability. This role requires a highly effective relationship builder, a structured thinker, a proactive problem-solver who can serve as both conductor and hands-on contributor in a fast moving, enterprise level environment. Internal employees who are currently working from home are still eligible to apply. However, if selected for the role, you may be required to work onsite in accordance with the workplace excellence policy.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years in senior‑level program management, business management, HR business partner or relationship facing role; project management experience required
  • Experience supporting (or working within) front‑office environments such as wealth management or institutional/investment banking
  • Exceptional organizational discipline; ability to manage competing priorities calmly and effectively
  • Strong operational mindset—structured thinking, systems orientation, process discipline; Six Sigma or operational excellence experience is beneficial
  • High executive presence with strong judgment and discretion
  • Strategic and critical thinking; ability to quickly understand context, diagnose issues, and craft high‑quality solutions
  • Advanced written and verbal communications; ability to synthesize and simplify

Responsibilities

  • Serve as trusted advisor, driving execution of key strategic initiatives, developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and clients to facilitate program delivery aligned to business strategies
  • Apply analytical rigor to decision‑making, program measurement, and root‑cause identification; build frameworks that clarify issues and guide solutions.
  • Lead large‑scale, multifaceted initiatives that require precision, prioritization, disciplined tracking, and proactive risk mitigation
  • Maintain structured routines and operating mechanisms that ensure clarity of goals, interdependency management, and on‑time execution and overall operational excellence; rigorously focusing on impact, execution and organization across the portfolio
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and direction to junior Client Managers, elevating consistency and excellence across the portfolio. Point of escalation and consultation for client manager team, advising and providing direction to ensure work progresses by addressing dependencies and applying sound decision making
  • Deliver succinct, strategic, and candid communications for senior audiences; ensure all narratives reflect disciplined thinking and organizational alignment.
  • Oversee development of materials—briefings, talking points, strategic updates—for senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.
  • Collaborate with and execute across HR, Talent and Communications partners
  • Ensure strong engagement and adherence to risk management and operational risk policies and processes
