About The Position

The Principal Evaluator at the Office of Program Integrity (OPI) in the Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) is responsible for leading evaluations and assessments to ensure program integrity within the department. This role involves conducting independent research, collaborating with various stakeholders, and providing insights to enhance program efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills to guide the OPI team and effectively present findings.

Requirements

  • Experience in modeling and trend analysis, typically gained through college-level statistics and relevant practical experience.
  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing complex research and statistical projects.
  • Experience using and interpreting statistical analysis software packages such as SAS, SPSS, STATA, or Minitab.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Good knowledge of program evaluation and auditing principles and practices, typically gained through experience in conducting professional evaluations and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer evaluations, assessments, and studies from inception to final delivery.
  • Develop research questions, methods, and protocols for evaluations.
  • Conduct rigorous independent research and evaluation of programs.
  • Identify inefficiencies and risks, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present results in various formats, including written reports and oral presentations.
  • Evaluate programs to develop appropriate performance measures and standards.
  • Assess the reliability and validity of data provided by programs.
  • Collaborate with the Internal Audit unit to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place.
  • Provide consultation and training to programs on complex evaluations.
