About The Position

The West Virginia University Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, announces an outstanding opportunity for a fellowship-trained Vitreoretinal surgeon (ranks available: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at other worksites, including but not necessarily limited to, West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc., West Virginia University Medical Corporation doing business as “University Health Associates,” [etc.] located in West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania and, as such, travel is anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these other worksites. The Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmology department in the state. The nationally recognized Vision Research Center has made profound contributions toward advancing vision science and has collaborative partnerships with other WVU Departments and research institutions to build vision related research. The research program currently is in receipt of seven R01 grants, one COBRE grant, and 16 industry sponsored studies. The WVU Health System Board of Directors approved funding to construct a new 150,000 square foot facility that will allow the WVU Eye Institute to better meet the needs of patients which will include 102 exam rooms, 44 testing rooms, and surgical suites. Requirements

  • Applicants must have MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a state medical license.
  • Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology.
  • Candidates must have completed a vitreoretinal fellowship.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Practice in Ophthalmology focused on Retina.
  • Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students and ophthalmology residents and fellows.
