About The Position

This Per Diem Ophthalmic Assistant will be working in our Mission Viejo Clinic, and we are looking for someone with availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays to work at least four (4) eight-hour shifts per pay period. The hours will fall between 7:15am and 4:30pm (shifts vary based on schedule) The Ophthalmic Assistant performs basic ophthalmic patient work. Enters data in the electronic medical records and updates patient demographics. Collects patient information and performs basic age-appropriate eye exams, basic ocular measurements, and pupil reaction. Prepares eye exam lanes before and in between patient care.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (1) year of experience in an Ophthalmology/Optometry office.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric clinical experience.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA).
