Midwest Cornea Associates, part of the Midwest Eye Institute, is seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant to join our well-established cornea practice located in Carmel, IN. This role is crucial in providing excellent patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for completing electronic health record (EHR) templates for both same-day and future patient care, which includes gathering comprehensive patient history, conducting examinations, performing tests, and documenting all relevant information accurately in the EMR system. A strong working knowledge of pharmacology is essential, particularly regarding anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics, cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. The technician will maintain accurate patient records while ensuring confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Assisting the physician during examinations is a key responsibility, which includes scribing in the EMR to enhance clinic efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of the anatomy of the eye and ocular pathology, as well as the ability to triage emergency cases appropriately into the surgeon's schedule. Critical thinking skills are vital for facilitating patient flow and ensuring optimal care delivery. Qualifications for this position include previous experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or a related field, proficiency in medical terminology, and a solid understanding of physiology. The candidate should also be knowledgeable about HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Additionally, the ability to accurately instill eye drops during patient exams and experience with electronic health record systems are required.
